Enfolded Dwelling Model

Year: 2018
Media: Chipboard, wooden dowel, plywood, cardstock
Skills: 3D modelling, laser cutting, hand craft

As unlikely as it looks, this irregular structure is a model of a housing unit, inspired by a Möbius strip that has been convoluted, sliced, reconstructed, and stretched into architectural spaces. The unit's loosely defined walls, floors, and ceilings fold into, over, and around each other, creating surfaces with no defined purpose but many possible uses.

This model combines precisely laser-cut surfaces with carefully hand-constructed 3D lattice pieces.

Visit the Enfolded Dwelling Animation page for more information about the project and a time-lapse animation of the physical model.
