The dual-layered kinetic wall system is an essential aspect of this project. The inner ring remains stationary, but the outer ring can rotate. The shifting relative positions of transparent, translucent, and opaque panels create varying levels of visibility, connection, and privacy between the interior and the exterior.
Only exterior passersby control the wall’s rotation, and can achieve specific views at will, while the residents on the interior have significantly reduced control over their privacy.
Animating the physical and digital models was an indispensable tool for quickly and simply illustrating these ideas.
Visit the Isolation Under Observation 3D Modelling & Rendering page for more information about the project and the Isolation Under Observation Models page to see a later iteration of the physical ring model.
